If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join a specialist school in Fishponds, Bristol.

Teaching Personnel are currently recruiting for a school based in BS16. The school is a Social, Emotional and Mental (SEMH) and Speech, Language and Communication needs (SLCH) Specialist Academy. The school supports all staff to be experts across the spectrum of SEND and will inspire, coach and support staff to develop in their specialist knowledge. The pupils within this school have found it hard to reach their full potential whilst in mainstream schools and so have moved so that their specialist needs can be met.

As a Youth Behaviour Mentor, you would be expected to provide support and nurture for the pupils around the areas of their social and emotional barriers to learning. This encompasses a wide range of support form supporting pupils on a 1:1 basis and in small nurture groups but also being able to identify needs from each pupil’s EHCP.

Job Description:

  • In this role, you will play a vital role in creating a supportive and inclusive learning environment for the students.
  • Providing 1:1 and small group support.
  • Assisting in the development and implementation of individualised education plans (IEPs).
  • Building strong relationships with students to establish trust and rapport.
  • Promoting positive behaviour management techniques and strategies.
  • Collaborating with teachers and other professionals to support student learning.
  • Creating a safe and nurturing atmosphere where students can thrive academically and emotionally.
  • Monitoring and recording student progress.

About the role:

  • September start
  • Monday- Friday
  • 08:30-3:30
  • 1:1 and general LSA
  • £83 per day

Job Description:

While no specific qualifications may be required for this role, having a background in education, psychology, or related fields can be advantageous. A genuine passion for helping students with SEMH needs achieve their full potential is a very important quality we look for, as well as a willingness to learn and adapt the unique needs of each student. Patience, empathy, and the ability to remain calm in challenging situations.
