Requirements of the role:

– Have at least two years recent experience of working in youth justice or a related field
– Evidenced experience of management including structured staff supervision, performance management and multi-agency work
– Specific management of staff working within a court-based and/or community-based setting
– Knowledge of current crime and disorder current policies and their relationship to the management and delivery of youth justice and targeted youth support services
– Knowledge of relevant criminal justice and children’s safeguarding legislation and guidance and ability to interpret and apply in the line management of staff
– Understanding of risk, safety & well-being factors related to offending, exploitation, other vulnerabilities and risk-based behaviours
– Knowledge of principles of evidence-based practice and other research and developments relevant to youth justice and targeted youth support
– Ability to analyse and interpret statistics and other information relating to service and individual performance
– Ability to represent the service internally and externally
– Ability to establish constructive relationships with partner agencies and capacity to work effectively in multi-agency setting
– Skills in oral and written communication, including production or reports to deadlines
– Ability to contribute to the wider strategic aims and objectives of Stockport Council, the Crime and Disorder Strategy and Youth Justice plan
– Competence in use of IT and case management systems
– A relevant professional qualification and/or professional experience and evidence of training and development sufficient to enable working at this level
– A relevant undergraduate and/or post-graduate degree
– A relevant professional qualification eg: Social Work, Probation-qualified
