Youth Engagement Worker (Temp until Jun )

We are looking for qualified and experienced Youth Engagement Worker as part of our Early Intervention and Prevention Team.

What will be expected from me?

The purpose of this role is to support the team to develop and deliver a comprehensive offer of support and activities for children and young people from age 11 to 24 (up to and including).

To do this, you will facilitate the engagement of children and young people in a range of group work and one to one activities and programmes in a variety of settings, including centre-based activities, street based and community activities.


What I might be doing?

  • You will build links and develop working relationships with a range of voluntary, community based and statutory partners to contribute to the provision and development of new and existing services for children and young people.
  • You will assess the needs of children and young people, to identify areas of need, and to plan and deliver, or to work with partners in the voluntary and community sector to plan and deliver a comprehensive, responsive, and evenly distributed diverse range of activities.
  • You will support children and young people’s participation in a range of activities which promote positive health and wellbeing.

  • Essential requirements:

  • A relevant professional qualification recognised in Youth Work, Youth Justice, Careers Guidance, or Education, together with registration with the relevant awarding / professional body e.g. GSCC where applicable, Or demonstrable evidence of working towards a professional qualification relevant to the work area, Or significant relevant experience.
  • A full driving licence is required.
  • Good knowledge and understanding of the barriers that certain groups experience in accessing services and support.
  • Experience of working directly with children and young people and managing the risks they face and the potential risk they may pose to others.
