Wild About Gardens Officer

Closing date: Wednesday 3 April 2024 Salary: £26,000 to £28,000 per annum full time equivalent (pa FTE), actual for 3 days a week £15,600 to £16,800 (depending on experience). Contract type: Permanent / Working hours: Part time To develop the Wild About Gardens project at Kent Wildlife Trust.

Contract Type: Part Time (22 hrs / 3 days a week)

Interview Date:15th April 2024 - Due to the safeguarding responsibilities of this role, interviews must take place face to face at Kent Wildlife Trust Head Office, Tyland Barn, Chatham Rd, Sandling, Maidstone ME14 3BD. 

Working base: Head Office - Tyland Barn, Chatham Rd, Sandling, Maidstone ME14 3BD. However, we expect a significant amount of work to take place in person in communities throughout Kent.

The Job: This exciting role will run and develop the highly successful Wild About Gardens project at Kent Wildlife Trust. This will include the recruitment and management of volunteers and the development of groups of wildlife friendly gardeners and gardens. You will also provide advice and support to the Wilder Kent Awards applicants and promote wildlife friendly gardening throughout Kent. Your work will help KWT achieve it’s goal of 25% of Kent taking meaningful action for nature by 2023.

You: We are seeking a highly motivated individual to join our Wilder Engagement Team, to run and develop the Wild About Gardens project. You are someone who is highly personable, passionate and organised. You are committed to supporting community powered change and facilitating local people to empower themselves to act for nature.

The Kent Wildlife Trust Group undertakes criminal records checks to ensure that employees and volunteers aged 16 or over have nothing on their record that makes them unsuitable to work or volunteer in roles that have contact with children, young people and adults at risk. Each role is checked using the DBS Eligibility Tool prior to recruitment. Roles are rechecked prior to duties changing and a different level of check may be needed or new check altogether undertaken. Appointment is dependent upon a satisfactory DBS.
