Job Introduction

As a  Cook  at  Town Moore Approved premises DN1 2QL

Approved Premises (APs) contribute to the effective risk management of people released from prison by providing an enhanced level of supervision, monitoring and rehabilitation within the community. The post will provide you experience of working with complex and vulnerable people and an understanding of residential setting within the Criminal Justice System. What you’ll do:

  • To plan, prepare, cook and appropriately present meals to the residents
  • Ability to follow recipes well, and have a good experience in volume cooking
  • To ensure routine day to day as well as specialised cleaning of kitchen equipment, work surfaces, kitchen floors and storage areas
  • To ensure waste is controlled with regard to preparation and cooking
  • To maintain the highest standards of health, hygiene and safety
  • To manage and control all food, to include; receiving and checking stock, checking equipment and materials are used correctly, closely monitoring portion control.
  • To ensure that routine data is collected as required and that all daily checks, including temperature control during production, preparation, service and storage are carried out properly.
  • To immediately report all accidents, near misses, damage or breakages to the Catering supervisor  
  • To ensure that the Catering Department is opening and closed at the required times and secured when not in use
  • To undertake any other tasks appropriate with the duties and responsibilities of the post
  • To attend any relevant training sessions to ensure that you are fully equipped to perform your role effectively

What you bring:  

  • 2 years of experience in hands-on cooking
  • Experience of working to strict food hygiene standards
  • Experience in following recipes and open to cooking many cuisines
