About The Role:

Its new and exciting times to join us and be part of our fantastic team at our Plymouth hospital!

Due to the increase in demand for treatments and care we offer to patients, our Plymouth based hospital is now expanding. This expansion will enable us to offer more availability and flexibility to our patients and allow us to offer an even more shifter service whilst still maintaining focus on providing a high standard of safe and effective patient care!

    We have full time - permanent positions available

    Working Monday to Saturday on a rota basis

    Covering days and nights 07:30 to 20:00 and 19:30 to 08:00

    Main duties of the job

    As one of our  Healthcare Assistants , youll work with members of the ward inpatients and theatre teams, providing a safe and supportive environment for all patients. Youll be ensuring that our patients receive a high standard of care by carrying out routine patient monitoring and care duties such as; changing bedding and assisting with personal hygiene, youll be undertaking basic nursing care practices like catheter fitting and bag changing.

    Youll be setting up theatres ready for your patients treatment to take place and having gained knowledge of your patient by investigating the patent pathway responsibility of adding to and following that patents pathway, ensuring particulars such as; consent obtained before any treatment is carried out.

    There will be elements of administration tasks to be carried out, for instance, you'll be called upon to collect all patient information together for admissions and discharging or for follow-up calls. You may be required to photocopy particulars and transport patient paperwork to other departments.

    You'll be conscious of health, safety and hygiene aspects on a ward. Not only will you look to make sure the ward is clean, you will monitor and look for potential hazards, ensuring they are made safe or the issue is quickly bright to the attention or the department manager. In addition, youll assist with the management of stock and equipment, ensuring good levels and ordering when appropriate, pre-empting any shortfalls.

    Being a Practice Plus Group Healthcare Assistant, you will have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment that can be hard, but also fun and rewarding!

    You might have past exposure or experience of working in a Care home, Hospital or Clinical environment and might have already completed the NVQ level 1&2 in Health and Social Care or equivalent and Basic Life Support (BSL) Certificate or Care Certificate. If not, you must be willing to undertake the training which is provided by us.

    You will be computer literate and an effective communicator at all levels, both written and verbal and adaptable, this position will see you communicating with a wide range of people, from internal colleagues from varied departments to patients, their families and friends. You will also be computer literate.
