 Obstetrics & General Theatre experience is essential.

We would like to hear from qualified ODP practitioners and Registered Nurses to be a part of our dynamic obstetric/general theatre team at our high performing trust. Following a period of appropriate training, our ODPs and Registered Nurses provide assistance as a member of the Theatre team as an anaesthetic/recovery practitioner or scrub practitioner. As effective role models, our ODPs and Registered Nurses develop their skills and abilities to supervise and plan evidence based interventional care for patients, moving from close supervision to proximal supervision.

  • The operating department at the James Cook University Hospital includes 20 in-patient theatres within the Centre. Included, is a recovery area within main theatres plus the recovery area within the paediatric day facility. Also at The Friarage Hospital, Northallerton the operating department comprises of 6 main in-patient theatres, (which includes obstetrics) plus the Surgical Day Unit (1 GA &1 minor ops theatre). 

    The theatres provide an operating service to the following clinical specialities:

    General Surgery Gynaecology Urology MRI

    Plastic Surgery Orthopaedics Maxilofacial ECT

    Neurosurgery ENT Obstetrics Neuro x-ray

    Paediatrics Emergency

    Essential criteria

  • Degree or Diploma in Nursing
  • Registered General Nurse
  • Current NMC Registration
  • Desirable criteria

  • Recognisable teaching qualification
  • Experience

    Essential criteria

  • Experience working within and acute or community setting
  • Commitment to evidence based practice
  • Ability to work within the boundaries of the NMC Code of Professional conduct.
  • Disclosure and Barring Checks (DBS)
    It is now the policy of South Tees Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust that all successful candidates who are new to the Trust who require DBS clearance for the post they have been offered, are required to pay the cost of their DBS.
