Technical Assistant (12-month maternity cover initially)

Monday - Thursday 9am-5pm, Friday 8am-4pm
Salary up to £34,227

We are initially looking for someone for maternity cover in our Technical Support role, with a view to training to become a Specifications Technologist, which will be a permanent role.
As our new Technical Assistant, you will be joining our Technical Department with the primary purpose of managing the artwork process and ensuring a technically led operational environment (audit ready at all times) through the improvement of Food Safety Culture and Continuous Improvement in Processing.
The role will also include:
To engage with technical and other operational teams to bring QMS/HACCP off the page and into the factories
To support the completion of relevant data analysis/metrics and reporting of that analysis to the relevant departments
To conduct investigations and resolving failures to meet specifications/procedures (customer complaint investigation, root cause and corrective/preventative actions)
To conduct random factory process, hygiene and traceability audits to drive continuous compliance
To support/take an active role in technical project work
Ideally, we are looking for someone with:
Degree level in food safety/science/technology discipline or relevant scientific degree, coupled with relevant food industry experience, or
Experience of working within a Technical Team in a food based manufacturing industry, working to legal requirements, food accreditation standards and customer codes of practice, with HACCP and Food Safety Level 3 qualifications
Good level of knowledge of computer systems such as Word, Excel, Access and email.
Experience with analysis, interpretation and reporting of data
Experience of working with diverse teams
Excellent communication skills
Internal auditor certification (preferred, but not required – training can be provided)
