Pay Grade Dorset Grade 5, Point 5-6 FTE (£23,500 to £23,893)

Actual Pro Rata Pay (£16,711 to £16,990, Hourly rate of £12.18 to £12.39)

The vacancy is a term time position, working 31.25 Hrs Per Week (Monday - Friday 8:30am to 3:15pm including a half an hour lunch duty).

Radipole Primary School would like to appoint a teaching assistant to join our friendly and talented team on a fixed term basis, with the possibility of the contract being extended for a suitably qualified or experienced candidate.

A vacancy has arisen for us to recruit an enthusiastic, caring and adaptable teaching assistant to work within KS2. We are dedicated to supporting the development of our children’s emotional wellbeing, their speech and language and their social skills – we want to make sure every child in our care exceeds every expectation. There will be a requirement within this role to work with children on a 1:1 basis.

Our school is set to achieve some amazing things and we are looking for an additional colleague who can nurture, motivate and enable children to achieve highly: someone who will inspire children, parents and colleagues alike to delight in learning.

The successful candidates will be able to demonstrate:

  • real energy and enthusiasm for learning;
  • high expectations for all pupils;
  • the greatest professional warmth, care and respect for the children in our care;
  • a commitment to working closely with colleagues to share and develop skills and expertise;
  • We can offer:

  • exceptionally caring, polite and well-behaved children with a love of learning;
  • a highly experienced, talented, supportive and approachable team of colleagues;
  • a shared determination to inspire children to learn;
  • a leadership team ready to support you fully in your professional development;
  • a well-resourced and modern learning environment in a beautiful natural setting;
  • a governing body dedicated to the wellbeing of the children, families and staff as well as to the success of the school.
  • Applications from both qualified teaching assistants and those wishing to gain NVQ qualification are welcome. Radipole is a wonderful and truly exciting place to work. As well as excellently resourced classrooms and facilities such as library, ICT suite and swimming pool, we have a huge nature reserve on site, which the children use every week. The muddy wellies outside every classroom tell the story of what we are aiming to achieve for our children’s health and wellbeing.

    We will use the person specification for the post to shortlist applications. When applying, please address each of the criteria to ensure we can invite you to interview.

    Radipole Primary School values the diversity of our workforce and welcomes applications from all sectors of the community.

    We are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people; this is a commitment which we expect all staff and volunteers to share. The successful candidate will be required to have a Disclosure and Barring Service check in line with the Governments safer recruitment guidelines.

    The pro rata salary shown is based on the number of hours and weeks worked and paid annual leave entitlement for an employee under 5 years’ service.

    This role is UK based and your Right to Work will need to be established as part of the appointment process.

    This post is exempt from the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act (ROA) 1974. The amendments to the ROA 1974 (Exceptions Order 1975, (2013 and 2020)) provide that when applying for certain jobs and activities, certain spent convictions and cautions are ‘protected’, so they do not need to be disclosed to employers, and if they are disclosed, employers cannot take them into account. The MOJ’s guidance on the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act 1974 and the Exceptions Order 1975, provides information about which convictions must be declared during job applications and related exceptions and further information about filtering offences can be found in the DBS filtering guide.

    Keeping Children Safe in Education

    Radipole Primary School will conduct online searches of shortlisted candidates. This check will be part of a safeguarding check, and the search will purely be based on whether an individual is suitable to work with children. All aspects of social media and internet searches will be conducted. As care must be taken to avoid unconscious bias and any risk of discrimination, a person who will not on the appointment panel will conduct the searches and will only share information if and when findings are relevant and of concern.

    For Dorset Schools and those Academy’s that have opted into the first year rate adjustments:

    The salary quoted is the annual salary for the position at the time of advert. The salary will be paid in equal monthly instalments and will be adjusted at the start of employment and again if leaving part way through the school year to ensure the correct salary is received for the work completed in an academic year.
