A great opportunity has arisen to work as a band 5 Staff Nurse within Bradford District Care Foundation Trusts Continence Service. We are a well-established team delivering expert care to individuals with bladder and bowel problems across the primary care setting and care homes. We are also responsible for delivering education across the community nursing teams on continence care (bladder/bowel and catheterisation). The mechanism for this delivery is varied and responds to ever changing needs. We pride ourselves on our multidisciplinary approach to patient care and are very proud of the service that we deliver.

We are looking for a motivated, dynamic, forward-thinking nurse with a passion for improving the delivery of continence care in the Bradford, Airedale, and Craven area.

You will be responsible for undertaking continence assessments and providing a patients with quality, evidence based advice to improve their symptoms. You will provide support for community staff and service users, as well as supporting junior staff within the service. You will have good communication skills and be confident in teaching. You will also have the enthusiasm for service improvement and work collaboratively in achieving continence service objectives.

Main duties of the job

  • To work as part of the Continence Service across the geographical area of the organisation
  • To work as an effective team player contributing to the development of the service in collaboration with colleagues and senior nurses in the continence service
  • To provide a high standard of care that is research/evidence based and clinically effective at all times
  • To provide support, advice and education on continence bladder and bowel matters to colleagues, patients and carers

  • Registered nurse
  • Educated to diploma level or can demonstrate equivalent knowledge and experience
  • Desirable criteria

  • Educated to degree level
  • Recognised qualification in continence management related subjects

  • Committed to undertake relevant training/education to meet the requirements of the role
  • Ability to contribute to the training of others

  • Experience of working in an environment dealing with bladder and bowel management
