Speech and Language Therapist

Job purpose:

The successful candidate will be working with young people presenting complex social, learning and emotional needs, as well as challenging behaviour.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Planning, resourcing and preparing supportive and engaging therapy programmes.
• Developing and facilitating intervention programs.
• Completing therapy reports.
• Ensuring effective and smooth transitions for young people.
• Attending therapy meetings.
• Maintaining confidentiality at all times.
• Having an awareness of, and complying with, policies and procedures relating to child protection.
• Being aware of and supporting differences.
• Establishing appropriate goals that promote increased participation and independence.

Requirements:

• Speech and Language Therapy qualification.
• Registration with HCPC.
• Ability to work successfully with young people with challenging behaviour.
• Ability to work well as part of a team.
• Thorough understanding of child development, learning and children with SEMH and associated SEN.
• Thorough understanding of relevant policies and an awareness of relevant legislation.
• Experience of working with an educational environment.
