starting at £12.90 per hour

A large and successful secondary school in the Newport area are seeking a Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join their Learning Development Centre on a full-time basis. This role is due to start in September 2024 until the end of the academic year in July 2025. This is a unique opportunity for someone with a strong understanding of additional learning needs and a caring and patient nature.

About the role:

  • Full-time Monday to Friday 08:10am-15:10pm.
  • Supporting pupils aged 11-16 with special educational needs.
  • Working closely with pupils in secondary school, learning a primary curriculum.
  • Offering 1:1 intervention and working closely with small groups of pupils.
  • Assisting pupils with core subjects such as Literacy and Numeracy and lifeskills.
  • Special Needs within the LDC – Autism (verbal and non-verbal), ADHD, Global Development Delay, Dyspraxia.

About you:

  • Patient and caring with a firm and resilient personality.
  • Prior experience working with special needs in a personal or professional capacity.
  • Able to build relationships with the pupils and create a safe learning environment for them.
  • Able to commit to a full-time role (term time only).

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
