Sheet Metal Pre-Fabrication Shop Manager
We are seeking an experienced Sheet Metal Fabrication Manager to lead and oversee operations at our pre-fabrication shop in Whitby, ON. In this key role, you will manage shop workflows, processes, budgets, and teams to ensure efficient, high-quality pre-fabrication of sheet metalponents for HVAC and other systems.
Responsibilities:
Plan, coordinate, and manage all activities of the pre-fabrication shop including inventory, scheduling, cost control, quality control, safety, and personnel management
Optimize fabrication processes and lean workflows to maximize productivity and throughput
Prepare budgets, forecasts, and operational reports to advise on shop performance
Manage relationships and coordination with contractors, customers, and vendors
Hire, train, develop, and supervise fabrication shop staff including supervisors, operators, and helpers
Ensure all quality, safety, and industry regulations are followed consistently
Stay current on the latest best practices, technologies, and innovations in sheet metal fabrication
Liaise between field operations and shop to ensure seamless project execution
Requirements:
10+ years of experience in sheet metal fabrication or HVAC construction/engineering
In-depth knowledge of sheet metal processes including cutting, bending, welding, finishing etc.
Experience with CAD and/or BIM design tools
Strong leadership, organizational, and project management skills
Excellentmunication and team-building abilities
Detail-oriented with outstanding analytical and problem-solving abilities
Journeyperson sheet metal qualification is a strong asset.
