Senior Relationship Manager, North (NN4)

Contract: Permanent, working 35 hours per week (Arts Council also recognises the benefit of flexible working as a valued part of the way we work, and welcome applications from individuals who require flexibility)

Salary: £46,709 per annum plus benefits including a final salary pension scheme, generous annual leave, and flexible and hybrid working.

Location: Newcastle (The role will be based at the office base listed; however, we are operating a hybrid way of working and support our staff to make use of remote working options when combined with regular on-site contact days with other members of the team, normally 1-2 days a week)

Arts Council is the national development agency in England for Creativity and Culture. We invest public money from government and the National Lottery to make sure everyone's creativity is given the chance to flourish and we all have access to a remarkable range of high quality cultural experiences. We support individual artists and organisations working across museums, libraries, dance, theatre, music, literature, visual arts and combined arts; and people and communities who are working with them. We work alongside Councils, Universities, community groups, other lottery distributors and funders and have 10 offices across England, as local working is important to us.

Role details:

In this role as a Senior Relationship Manager in the North Area, you can expect to:
  • Work collaboratively as part of the North Area Management Team to help shape, monitor and manage our grant investments across the North East, North West and Yorkshire and Humberside.
  • Lead, line manage and support a team of Relationship Managers working across a range of specialisms with artists, communities, arts organisations, museums, libraries
  • Work frequently with external stakeholders like Local Authorities, Universities and other funders to support investment, cultural strategy and development in our places of interest
  • Contribute broadly across the North and feed into national Arts Council development activities and major projects in your specialist areas of knowledge.
  • Work closely with local colleagues from Arts Council and the cultural sector across the North East to support each other and the delivery of Arts Council's 10 year strategy, Let's Create. There is a team of around 26 Arts Council staff across different teams currently based in Newcastle and we are co-located with National Lottery Community Fund (NLCF)


You will have relevant experience in line management, enjoy partnership working and be passionate about the difference arts, culture, and creativity can make to people's lives. You will also have relationship or stakeholder management experience, as well as an understanding of place-based working.
