Job summary

This is a unique opportunity for an experienced senior Radiographer to join our expanding team in a long established hospital.

Working at The Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital, the appointee will be able to provide care of the highest standards with ample time and within a luxurious and clean facility.

In this role, the Radiographer, in addition to clinical activities, they will also undertake and manage the administration within the Radiology Department. At the present moment the hospital provides, x-ray, Ultrasound and CT scans. The MRI facility is under construction.

This role is for a Senior Radiographer who is able to cover x-ray and CT scans.

Royal Buckinghamshire Hospital does not offer hybrid working and all post are on site only.

Main duties of the job

Core Responsibilities:

  • To ensure that a high-quality Radiology service is provided to all customer groups.
  • To assist in the day-to-day running of the Radiology Department.
  • To provide Inpatient and Outpatient Radiography services of the highest possible standard in accordance with instructions from referring Consultants and GPs and to assist in the development of the departments services.
  • To treat patients, all staff members and referring doctors with consideration, courtesy and care.

    Phase 2 includes construction and set up of the MRI facility and construction of operating theatres and endoscopy suites.

  • Main Duties and Key Accountabilities:

  • To carry out routine Radiography for all in and outpatients, producing high quality images and keeping patient dose to a minimum.
  • To carry out routine CT scans for both outpatients and in patients when required.
  • To ensure all protocols relating to the use of x-rays are closely adhered to.
  • To maintain all equipment in a clean working condition and report any faults to the Imaging Lead.
  • To participate in a programme of QA.
  • To assist with patient appointments and organisation of the daily workload.
  • Checking patients details prior to examination and ensuring that such details are present and correct on the request form/computer. Requests must be justified as per protocol and as per statutory regulations; Ionising Radiations (Medical Exposure) Regulations (IR(ME)
  • To ensure that identified abnormalities are brought to the attention of clinicians so that images may be reported upon urgently in the patients best interest.
  • To be aware and participate in current radiographic developments.
  • To ensure that Clinical Governance and risk management are embedded within daily practice.
  • To administer IV contrast.
  • To ensure patients are aware of the procedure for settling accounts and obtaining their reports.
  • To assist with clerical duties, radiologists and any other duties as required.
  • To participate as an active member of the team in all aspects of work.
  • To ensure that all Health and Safety policies, IRR, IRMER procedures are read, understood and complied with as reasonably practicable.
  • To promote the department and the hospital favourably whenever possible.
  • To attend regular staff meetings and contribute ideas for improvements and income generation.
  • To ensure the safety of all patients and staff who enter the radiation controlled areas.
  • To keep accurate patient records and manage patient images on PACS
  • In addition:
