Join us as our senior Pension Manager (9 Month FTC), where you will add great value to our Wincanton Group, having responsibility for the management and administration of our Wincanton’s defined benefit and contribution pension schemes, covering over 20,000 colleagues and over £1.5 billion of assets. There’s lots to get stuck into, you’ll report into our Director of Treasury, Tax and Insurance and we’re looking for your expertise and well-versed practises of defined benefit and defined contribution pension schemes experience, focusing on advising and leading design, governance and administration. 

Key Responsibilities:
  • You will report to the Director of Treasury, Tax and Insurance and work closely with the Head of Reward, Pension Trustees, external advisers, and internal stakeholders to ensure the schemes are well governed, compliant, and deliver excellent service to members. Ensuring end-to-end pension processes are reviewed, documented and fit for purpose.
  • You will also support the development and implementation of the pension strategy, including the management of risks, costs, and liabilities, and the communication and engagement of pension benefits to employees.
  • Develop and implement a robust governance framework and risk management process for the pension schemes and ensure compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.
  • Lead and/or facilitate a number of pension projects including the role out of Irish auto-enrolment and the introduction of pension dashboards.
  • Prepare and present regular reports and updates to the Director of Treasury, Tax and Insurance Director, the Pension Trustees, and the Audit Committee on the status and performance of the DC Pension arrangements and administration as appropriate.
  • Manage the relationship and contract with the pension administration provider and ensure the delivery of high-quality and cost-effective service to members.
  • Review and re-design and execute effective documentation, communication, and education campaigns to promote the awareness and understanding of the pension benefits among employees and members.
  • Act as the pension SME to support the Oracle systems teams to deliver their payroll stabilisation plan and implement processes and improvements.
  • Be responsible for driving continuous improvement to ensure the business achieves best value of its pension offering.
  • Responsible for managing any communications, processes required by the Pension Regulator. 
  • What will you bring to our team?
  • Strong analytical and numerical skills, proficient in using Excel and other tools to manipulate/report large and complex data sets to support in decision making. 
  • Passionate to deliver excellent communication to a wide range of audiences and levels of seniority, with experience in explaining complex pension issues in a clear and concise manner. 
  • Proven experience of managing and administering complex pension schemes, preferably in a large and diverse organisation, with thorough knowledge in pension legislation, regulation, and best practice.
  • Professionally qualified in pensions (such as PMI or APMI, or equivalent experience).
  • Excellent team collaboration and leadership skills, whilst being self-motivated, organised and proactive to work in collaboration on multiple projects effectively.
