Overview This is a client-facing role requiring the Pensions Consultant to manage, retain and develop a portfolio of clients. MUFG Retirement Solutions Consulting Team provides first class benefit strategy and consulting support to their Pensions trustee clients, covering full governance, scheme secretarial and strategic communications delivery. You will be responsible for a portfolio of clients where you will deliver a variety of secretarial and consulting services depending on the requirements. You will be expected to take an entrepreneurial approach to creating and converting new business opportunities. Key Accountabilities and main responsibilities Strategic Focus
  • Demonstrate proactive leadership in the provision of the services leading to clients' confidence and trust in the team. 
  • Develop new ideas for services and markets. 
  • Raise profile of self and MUFG Retirement Solutions in marketplace through participation in industry events, financial media, and networking. 
  • Active participation in new business pitches and company events as and when required. 
  • Share knowledge and experience with more junior team members to help with their personal development and to benefit the wider team. 
  • Be adaptable and to take initiative on working with clients and on new projects 
  • Operational Management
  • Planning/organisation - liaising with chair/trustees/in-house pension managers. 
  • Meetings - preparation/attendance/minutes/follow-up actions 
  • Member communication – trustee newsletters/Summary Funding Statements. 
  • Annual report and accounts – co-ordination to sign off. 
  • Liaising with third parties 
  • Communication with members and specific member enquiries/assisting with determination of individual discretionary benefit decisions/IDRP cases. 
  • Governance projects . trustee effectiveness, provider service reviews and procurement projects. 
  • Liaising with regulatory bodies/online filings. 
  • Projects – varying levels of involvement, as required, from specific input to project management role (. implementing investment strategy, scheme de-risking and wind-up projects). 
  • Experience & Personal Attributes
  • Degree-educated or relevant professional qualifications are desirable but not essential. 
  • Strong experience of all types of occupational pension schemes/knowledge of pension's market (gained from a minimum 10 years working in pension's arena). 
  • Up-to-date knowledge of technical pension's matters and industry developments. 
  • Competent user of MS Office systems including Excel, Word, PowerPoint. 
  • Experience of managing third party/supplier relationships and dealing with industry regulators. 
  • Outstanding communication, numeracy, and data manipulation skills (including adapting communication style to suit audience) in line with MUFG Retirement Solutions guidelines. 
  • Excellent technical skills in working with relevant companies’ legislation in Ireland and the UK. 
  • Experience being as company secretary of regulated entities.
  • Ability to prioritise, work well under pressure and exercise independent judgment.
  • Meticulous attention to detail
  • Ability to interact with several stakeholders, including Directors and senior management. 
  • Demonstrate commitment to delivering results through drive and effective teamwork.
  • Ability to work both independently and within a team.
