We are looking for a highly motivated, skilled, tenacious and dedicated Senior Care Officer to form part of the leadership team at Connect Family Support Team based within Elgar Hub. The purpose of the team is to provide support to families to help children stay safely at home wherever possible. The Team aims to support families by providing the right help at the right time, which could involve short breaks, positive activities, parenting advice, behaviour support. The successful Senior Care Officer will work alongside the care team as well as our dedicated CAMHS Systemic Practitioner and Child Psychologist to form and create individualised packages of support for families. Where children cannot return to live with their families, good care planning needs to take place to ensure the child has everything they need for a successful transition into the next steps in their lives.

You will need to have previous experience within a child care setting. This experience would need to encompass supervisory duties and working with children and young people with complex needs. You will work with the Home Manager and undertake duties commensurate with the needs of the Service. The applicant would need to have a supportive and enabling approach, be able to engage in new developments, motivate staff and provide positive direction.

You should be able to provide advice, support and guidance on individualised care plans as well as behaviour and general care/safeguarding of the young people in the home. You will work, supervise and support staff who will be involved in the day-to-day running of the Home. You will be required to work in a dynamic, responsive and flexible team. A qualification which is equivalent (or above) to a NVQ 3 Level in a relevant Health and Social Care area of work is required.

Your Senior Care Officer role will also involve working with children, young people and families within the Community providing individualised support/care working as part of a Multi-Disciplinary Team. In order to offer the best to our children, young people and families you will be offered high quality support, training, guidance, and development and be part of a motivated and ambitious team. 

This post involves shift work and sleep overs at the Home.
