About the Role & Team

An opportunity has arisen to join The Walt Disney Company and support the Statutory Financial Statements process. This role will work across key business – Disney+, Disney Studios (Marvel, Lucasfilm, 20th Century Fox), Disney Consumer products and more! This role offers the exciting opportunity to gain comprehensive exposure to a wide variety of accounting areas and processes within the EMEA Compliance Team. You will also be working across international teams!

In this role with us, you will get to work on different revenue streams, as well as different types of balance sheets and contracts. You'd be involved in writing key Disney documentation, policies and Financial Statements , and work in close collaboration with major external audit partners. The Senior Accountant will have regular exposure to senior EMEA Executive leaders within Disney and Internationally across the world.

The Senior Accountant will support the EMEA Compliance team and Disney Controllership & Tax Executives with Statutory Financial Statements preparation, ATOL, and ABTA audits, and work closely with the EMEA Tax team. You will collaborate with the external auditors co-ordinating the UK GAAP adjustments, audit procedures and appropriate statutory filings for the legal entities you are focusing on. The Senior Accountant will also provide ad-hoc financial projects support, often working with Tax, Treasury and Global Controllership; and supporting the SSC and EMEA Controllership teams with financial and Disney control matters.

What You Will Do

  • Preparation of statutory accounts for UK legal entities in line with FRS ting with the auditors throughout the audit cycle to facilitate timely completion of the audit and to ensure timely filing of the audited financial statements.

  • Support the Corporate Tax department by preparing supporting schedules for tax calculations and any ad-hoc tax audit requirements.

  • Prepare supporting schedules for ad-hoc external audit deliverables – supporting SSC, EMEA Controllership.

  • Consult with various teams on distribution projects and company reorganisation projects.

  • Submission of Balance Sheet variance analysis on a quarterly basis on a timely manner. Complete variance analysis for non-business operation related to UK legal entities.

  • Completion and submission of various key Balance Sheet accounts across the UK legal entities.

  • Submission of annual reports requested by the US for the annual consolidated reporting.

  • Identify and drive areas of improvement within current processes with the aim of maintaining the current high standard of service provided in a more efficient manner.

  • Ensure compliance with Sarbanes Oxley and Disney Minimum Control Standards by taking part in the annual SOX testing procedure.

  • Support management and wider finance team on any ad-hoc duties and projects.

  • Required Qualifications & Skills

  • Fully Qualified or Finalist ACA/CIMA/ACCA

  • Strong experience of data analysis

  • Strong educational qualifications including accounting work experience.

  • Strong excel skills important.

  • SAP experience preferred.

  • Company accounting experience is preferred
