Exciting Opportunity for Art, Music, and Acting Enthusiasts in a Special Needs School

We are seeking passionate individuals with backgrounds in art, music, or acting to join our team at a special needs school in the vibrant North East of England.

As a Creative Classroom Assistant, you will play a crucial role in nurturing creativity and enhancing students' abilities in a dynamic sensory setting. Your responsibilities will include improving hand-eye coordination, speech and language skills, social and communication abilities, independence, and cognitive processes.

You will also have the opportunity to explore various subjects, such as cooking, art, and music.

Key Details:

  • Position: Creative Classroom Assistant
  • Employment Type: Full-time, Monday to Friday, 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM
  • Location: North East of England

The Role: As a Creative Classroom SEN Teaching Assistant, you will be a vital part of our SEN department, collaborating closely with teachers to support students with a range of special educational needs. Your creativity, patience, and enthusiasm will help foster a positive learning environment where every student feels valued and motivated.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to students with SEN, adapting teaching methods to meet their unique needs
  • Create and implement engaging lesson plans that cater to diverse learning styles and abilities
  • Assist the class teacher in managing the classroom, preparing materials, and ensuring a safe and inclusive environment for all students
  • Help students develop social skills and emotional resilience, offering encouragement and positive reinforcement
  • Collaborate with teachers, SEN coordinators, and other staff members to develop and maintain individualised education plans (IEPs) and track student progress
  • Build strong relationships with parents and guardians, keeping them informed about their child's progress and addressing any concerns

About You:

  • A genuine passion for working with children with SEN and a commitment to inclusive education
  • Creativity and the ability to make learning enjoyable and accessible for all students
  • Exceptional patience and empathy, understanding the diverse needs of students and creating a supportive learning environment
  • A team player who thrives in a collaborative environment
  • Prior experience working with children with SEN is desirable, but a willingness to learn and grow in this field is essential

Qualifications:

  • Relevant qualifications in education or childcare
  • Experience working with children with SEN is a plus
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A positive and proactive attitude
