SEN ASC Teaching Assistant

Location: Bootle (L30)

Contract Type: Full-time

Start Date: 2nd December 2024

As an SEN ASC Teaching Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with ASC, helping them to access the curriculum and develop their social, emotional, and academic skills. Working closely with class teachers, the SENCO, and other support staff, you will provide tailored assistance to meet the individual needs of each student.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students with ASC in the classroom and during other school activities.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior management strategies.
  • Support students in developing social skills, communication abilities, and independence.
  • Adapt learning materials and resources to suit the needs of students with ASC.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/carers.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive learning environment where all students feel valued and supported.
  • Collaborate with teachers, therapists, and other professionals to ensure a consistent approach to supporting students with ASC.
  • Participate in training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in SEN and ASC support.

Requirements:

  • Experience working with children with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) or other Special Educational Needs (SEN) is highly desirable.
  • A patient, empathetic, and resilient approach to supporting students with additional needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents/carers.
  • A commitment to promoting inclusion and equality within the school environment.
  • Relevant qualifications in education, child development, or SEN support are advantageous but not essential.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to the needs of the role.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
