The Role
As a Secondary School Science Teacher, you will play a key role in delivering engaging and challenging lessons across Key Stages 3 and 4, encouraging students to develop a deep understanding and passion for the sciences. You will be responsible for planning, preparing, and delivering high-quality lessons in line with the national curriculum, as well as assessing and reporting on student progress.
Key Responsibilities
- Teaching: Deliver inspiring and interactive lessons in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Physics to students across Key Stages 3 and 4.
- Curriculum Development: Contribute to the design and development of the science curriculum, ensuring it meets the needs of all students.
- Assessment: Monitor, assess, and report on student progress, providing feedback that supports student learning and development.
- Classroom Management: Create a positive and safe learning environment that fosters respect and encourages student participation.
- Extracurricular Activities: Lead or support science-related extracurricular activities, such as clubs, competitions, and trips.
- Professional Development: Engage in ongoing professional development to stay current with educational best practices and advancements in science education.
About You
We are looking for a passionate educator who is committed to making science accessible and exciting for all students. The ideal candidate will have:
- Qualifications: A degree in a science-related subject and Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
- Experience: Previous experience teaching science at the secondary level is preferred, though we welcome applications from newly qualified teachers (NQTs).
- Subject Knowledge: Strong subject knowledge in Biology, Chemistry, or Physics, with the ability to teach across multiple disciplines.
- Communication Skills: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
- Adaptability: A flexible and innovative approach to teaching, with the ability to differentiate lessons to meet diverse learning needs.
- Passion: A genuine enthusiasm for science and education, with a commitment to inspiring students to achieve their full potential.
