Job overview This is an opportunity for a Trainee Nursing Associate Apprenticeship role within various Teams.Our apprenticeship scheme is run in partnership with a leading provider to ensure you are fully supported through a high-quality training programme. The apprenticeship will provide you with valuable experience and offer a strong foundation for future careers. The post will become a permanent position after you have successfully completed the apprenticeship programme.Whilst completing your apprenticeship programme you will be a band 3. On successful completion of the apprenticeship, you will progress to band 4 as a Nursing Associate. Main duties of the job The Nursing Associate apprenticeship role sits alongside our existing nursing care support workers, registered nurses, Allied Health Professionals and medical colleagues to deliver hands-on care for service users. Whilst a role in its own right, once qualified, the nursing associate role is a gateway to becoming a registered Nurse via an additional apprenticeship.You must have the following qualifications before applying and will not be shortlisted if you do not evidence these in your application:A health related NVQ or equivalent at minimum level 2 AND level 2 functional skills (Maths & English).During the programme you will be employed as a Band 3 within a clinical team. Dependant on where the training posts are, will depend on your place of work. It is not guaranteed you will remain in your current area. On successful completion of the foundation degree and End Point Assessment you will then be considered for a Band 4 qualified Nursing Associate post within our Trust. The nursing associate programme is a full time apprenticeship and you must be prepared to be contracted to work 37.5 hours per week. We welcome applications for those who already work bank shifts within our organisation but who must be willing to shift onto contracted hours of 30 – 37.5 hours a week in a permanent role. Detailed job description and main responsibilities Deliver high quality, compassionate care under the direction of a Registered Nurse (or other registered care professional dependent on setting) with a focus on promoting health and independence.Have proficient attitudes and behaviours compatible with NHS Values Work as part of a designated clinical and care team delivering care that focuses on the direct needs of the individual.Carry out specific delegated clinical and care tasks and responsibilities to a high standard and competency, under the direction and supervision of a registered nurse or other registered care professionals dependent on setting.Work with a mentor to take responsibility for developing own clinical competence, leadership and reflective practice skills within the workplace, while on placements and through attending the Nursing Associate Training Programme.Provide feedback to assist in the evaluation of the Nursing Associate Apprenticeship programme.Develop by the end of the Nursing Associate Training Programme the ability to work without direct supervision, at times delivering care independently in line with the individual’s defined plan of care, within agreed parameters.The programme is structured so that you will experience a wide variety of clinical placements across the breadth of health and social care sectors in different organisations with the aim of giving you the widest exposure to healthcare. Throughout the 2 year programme there is 18 weeks of ‘spoke’ placements you will be required to do. These are often in blocks of 4 weeks and spread out over the 2 years.50% of the course is academic learning. You will be expected to attend study days or weeks dependant on which University you are allocated to study at. You will also be expected to undertake ‘Protected Learning Time’ in the team which you will be based in and therefore meet the total learning hours required to complete the Foundation Degree. On successful completion you will register with the Nursing Midwifery Council.It is Trust policy that if an existing employee chooses to apply for an apprenticeship vacancy, they will be paid at the apprentice wage, regardless of previous salary or banding.
