Our client is an award-winning practice, recognised as one of the few highly specialised firms in the UK, is seeking a Solicitor to join their esteemed team within the Private Client department.

Your role will involve overseeing all aspects of private client work within the department, representing clients in private client legal matters. This department is growing, and your skills in private client work will be instrumental in our development.

Ideal candidates will have excellent communication, IT, and file management skills, and be able to thrive under pressure in a busy environment. A vision for success, coupled with the drive and empathy to assist others in reaching their potential, is essential. A good working knowledge of the Mental Capacity Act and experience in health and welfare work in the Court of Protection are highly desirable.

What they are looking for:

  • Broad, well-established background.
  • Bachelors Degree
  • Minimum of 3 years PQE.
  • Professional, pro-active approach with excellent client care skills and the ability to handle client matters sensitively.

Main responsibilities:

  • Reporting directly to and collaborating with the Directors to meet performance targets.
  • Supervising a team of one Legal Executive and one secretary undertaking private client work.
  • Managing appropriate caseload types and complexities.
  • Attending clients, taking instructions, and preparing cases.
  • Handling correspondence.
  • Maintaining accurate time and cost records.
  • Implementing recommendations from Directors following monthly file reviews.
  • Ensuring compliance with policies and procedures, including Lexcel standards.
  • Assisting with casework and a range of duties.
  • Handling financial deputyship and health and welfare deputyship applications.
  • Managing financial and health and welfare lasting powers of attorney applications.
  • Assisting clients with Court of Protection applications for personal welfare deputyships.
  • Managing files effectively, including costs and time recording.
  • Visiting clients, some of whom lack capacity.

Key skills required:

  • Committed team player who adapts well to new challenges.
  • Ideally, previous experience in a similar role.
  • Excellent analytical and organisational skills.
  • Ability to use initiative and sound judgment.
  • Working knowledge of deputyship work and ability to service privately funded cases.
  • Research and problem-solving skills for complicated matters.
  • Excellent IT skills, familiar with Microsoft Outlook applications, and document management.
