Your new role

HMP Winchester are looking for 12 Contractor Escorts to work on a long-term temporary basis for an uing project. As a Contractor Escort, your duties will include meeting contractors when they arrive on site, checking their ID, tools and vehicles to make sure they areplying with HMPPS regulations. You will be required to escort them around the prison, ensuring they are never left alone, and their tools never left unattended whilst on site. You will be responsible for the safety and security of the contractors, staff and prisoners during periods where large building contractors are carrying out work on site within the prison, and you will also ensure that no unauthorised persons or items enter the establishment/ building site.

Searching Contractors

Escorting contractors around the prison, ensuring they are never left unsupervised

Supervision of contractors while they are working on site

Patrolling perimeter and grounds

Searching buildings

Routine administrative work

Anything else that is requested by HMPPS, GFSL or Contractors whilst on site

Working Hours : Standard working hours are Monday to Friday minimum of 37 hours per week, however individual contracts may vary, and hours could increase if the demand is there.

Holiday: All vacancies offer 33 days annual leave in addition to the basic rates.

What you'll need to succeed

No formal experience or qualifications are required. You will need to be honest, hard-working, reliable, trust-worthy and have great attention to detail, alongside being an excellent team player. Any and all training will be provided for you on site when you start. Therefore, previous experience in the role is not necessary.

All applicants who are interested in the position must pass a basic DBS, be able to provide contact details to cover 5 years worth of written references, and undergo full Prison Clearance, which in total can take up to 12 weeks. Once passed, this is valid for 5 years and can be transferred to any other prisons of a similar category.

What you'll get in return

You will be paid weekly every Friday at a rate of £ per hour plus hourly holiday pay, which is set aside for you to cover any time off you may have. With the holiday paybined with your rate of £, the hourly rate totals £ Any overtime which you do is then paid at £ per hour plus holiday pay, and any weekend / bank holidays you work are paid at £ per hour plus holiday.
