  • You will manage the delivery of key assignments and defined business areas, providing strategic direction and monitoring delivery aligned with overall vision and objectives. 
  • You will support the long-term success of planning performance for specified engines/sectors/hubs, and the overall contribution to the broader company goals. 
  • You will support the planning function in ensuring projects and tenders are effectively planned, scheduled, and monitored. 
  • Monitor so that the works scheduling process is undertaken in accordance with the approved procedures and captures work efficiency data to the prescribed standard. 
  • Monitor so that the work bank is maintained and updated throughout the year so that the necessary work is identified and delivered.
  • Monitor so that the work schedules are aligned to the quarterly work plans including the requirements of specialists or area wide activities not undertaken by the delivery unit (such as E&P, ultrasonic testing etc).
  • Manage work schedules so that they are optimised within stated budget limits to achieve comprehensive work plan delivery and resource deployment across the delivery teams.
  • Provide information as requested regarding work plans/achievements.
  • Capture changes arising in the required business processes.
  • Manage joint MIMS process and user reviews with the network rail staff. Where system alterations are required act as the network rail sponsor of changes.
  • Assess scheduling staff competencies and instigate remedial action if necessary.
  • Identify changes to the infrastructure and revise work schedules.
  • Monitor so that the effective identification and management of all risks associated with delivery is undertaken.

  • You'll need to have:

  • Grounded in all types of planning techniques.
  • Ability to undertake risk analysis.
  • Good interpersonal skills for working within a matrix organization.
  • Good MS Office skills, MIMS and P3e. 
  • You’ll also have:

  • Experience in works planning and scheduling within the operational railway environment.
  • Computer literate (PPS, QEI).
  • Membership of APM, RICS, CIOB, ICE, AACE, IRM, IEMA or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
  • Extensive experience in the successful planning of projects and programmes in the xxx sector. 
  • Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
  • Strong commercial and financial acumen.
  • Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
  • Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
