Payroll Specialist

Bupa Place, Salford Quays M50 3SP or Leeds LS5 3BF

Flexible / Hybrid working options (1 days per week in office)

Full time 37.5 hours 12 Month Fixed Term Contract

£24,400 -£25,500 depending on experience with fantastic benefits

The payroll specialist will guarantee that all employees in the designated Business Units, are paid correctly and on time in accordance with both statutory legislation and company policy whilst ensuring, that there are no material audit issues and the principles of customer service are maintained.

How you’ll help us make health happen:

  • Process the payroll of employees both in UK, Egypt, Ireland Netherlands, Denmark,

  • Perform payroll-related functions under country and local laws, including but not limited to processing of new hires, terminations, compensation & benefits, overtime, deductions, and attachment orders.

  • To ensure all end of year tax documents are provided to employees (e.g. P60, P11D Information) in accordance with statutory deadlines

  • To be proficient in all aspects of payroll and have a full understanding of the following, the legislation involved and their processes: Absence, Parental Absence, Compensation, Pensions, Managing Leavers – Redundancy payments, settlement payments etc, New Starter Processing including P45’s and HMRC updates to tax codes etc, Holiday Pay, AOE/DEO/CSA and other payroll deductions.

  • Collect payroll, benefit information from various sources, and provide monthly payroll instructions to our payroll provider in accordance with the calendar.

  • Reviews and verifies payroll data using strict internal control policies

  • Performs audits and controls in accordance with the calendar.

  • Provide ad-hoc support to other members of the team

  • Monitor compliance updates and be alert to ensure legal compliance at country and local level

  • Instructs Finance to issue payroll-related payments when required (salaries, taxes, social security, pension, etc.)

  • Communicate with employees of all levels regarding all payroll matters, including troubleshooting of issues via the query management system within SLA’s.

  • Assists with internal, external, and statutory audits as required.

  • Assists with ad hoc projects as necessary and perform any other job duties subject to company requirements.

  • Create and update payroll procedure documents. Streamline and automate current processes.

  • Key Skills / Qualifications needed for this role:

  • Experience of processing UK and International payrolls using third party vendors

  • Experience of computerised payroll applications preferably ResourceLink

  • Experience with Workday or any HRIS systems

  • Experience and knowledge of current PAYE, National Insurance & Statutory Payments regulations including be able to perform manual calculations in these areas.

  • Excellent communication and administrative skills both towards internal and external stakeholders.

  • Microsoft proficient in excel, word & Outlook.

  • A positive attitude towards development and training with a willingness to learn and be cross trained in other areas to provide support to the wider payroll team when needed.

  • Ability to adapt and be pro-active to adjust to changing requirements.

  • Experience of working to tight deadlines and perform all tasks in a timely and efficient manner.

  • Solve problems by analytical troubleshooting to avoid delays within the payroll cycle.
