JOB TITLE: Health and Safety Advisor (Nights)
LOCATIONS: London TFL Contract, London Underground
REPORTING TO: QHSE Manager / Senior QHSE Manager
SHIFT PATTERN: Sunday night – Friday morning, 22:00 – 06:00 8hr shifts, versatility to drop onto days as required
SALARY: £37,000 per annum
ROLE OVERVIEW AND PURPOSE
To take the proactive business role to promote and support a culture of Quality, Health, Safety and environment (QHSE) in supporting the QHSE objectives for the business, by engaging with the operational teams, supporting and educating them on the importance and delivery of QHSE standards.
The postholder will improve performance through the monitoring and inspections of QHSE management systems and procedures at contract level, including ISO 45001, ISO14001, ISO9001 requirements. Will successfully drive a positive safety culture as well as ensuring the timely delivery of associated underpinning team QHSE objectives, contract/project mobilisation support, inspection, audits and QHSE training.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Ensure a safe workplace environment without risk to health
Ensure that all health and safety policies, procedures, rules and regulations are adhered to and are regularly reviewed updated and communicated
Ensure the company meets its statutory obligations in all areas pertaining to health safety and welfare at work including statutory training and reporting
Work proactively with managers and other key staff to establish and maintain a programme of continuous improvement in the management of health and safety within their areas of responsibility, which includes conducting regular inspections
Ensure that all accidents and incidents are documented, investigated, reviewed and recommended improvements implemented
Provide ABM staff with comprehensive and relevant information and training on ABM health and safety systems and procedures including advising on workplace practices
Actively engage with management and team members in the promotion and contribution in delivering safety excellence and continual improvement
Deliver training sessions on key areas of ABM activity in relation to Health and Safety and support the delivery of other training programmes including new staff induction
Ensure that all agreed actions are completed within deadlines
Provide regular reports to the Senior Management team on relevant health and safety activities
Participate in monthly meetings when required to report on relevant health and safety matters
Health and safety audits and inspections measuring performance against ABM’s QHSE management system and contract requirements .
Updating and reviewing of risk assessments, method statements and COSHH assessments and assist operational management in the review of SSoW
Comfortable to work in high-risk environments such as train Depots and Stations
Any other reasonable duties which may be required by management from time to time
Prepared to work permanent night shifts including weekends
REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
Appropriate experience of operating in a similar role within a large organisation
SENTINEL LUI
NEBOSH Certificate or equivalent NVQ
Member of IOSH
Understanding and experience of ISO Management Standards requirements
Proven written and oral communication skills and the ability to articulate information and influence others
Proficient in handling of health and safety investigations
Experience of delivering training sessions
Full clean UK driving licence
Desirable:
Self-starter with the ability to work as part of a team
IOSH train the trainer approved
NEBOSH Diploma or NVQ Level 6/7
CDM
Ability to organise workloads and to prioritise effectively
IT literate with the ability to use a full Microsoft Office package
Internal Auditor (ISO 45001, 9001, 14001)
