We are looking for an enthusiastic and highly motivated Band 6 MRI Radiographer to join our dynamic MRI team. This is an excellent job opportunity for an individual who wishes to enhance their skills in busy department. It is essential that you are a good communicator and team player, and that you are capable of working under pressure. Ideally, you are at least with 2 year of experience in MRI and looking to further develop your MR imaging skills. You will be part of a team in the Imaging Department responsible for the provision of a safe, efficient, high quality service working in accordance with the Imaging Department and Trust protocols. The post holder will be expected to maintain and develop high standards of patient care amongst peer, students, colleagues and users of imaging services.

The Senior Radiographer will support the Imaging Department Senior team in achieving the departmental and Trust objectives and will supervise and advise newly qualified/junior radiographers, undergraduate students and assistant practitioners.

You will be required to work flexibly – weekday /weekend and out of hour duties, we are a 7 day working department. Posts will include participation in the on-call rota.

Applicants who have recent NHS experience are desirable.

Main duties of the job

  • Working within MRI department across the sites on a rotational basi
  •  Participation in the provision of 24-hour service
  • Responsibility for the quality of own work
  • Take a lead in overseeing the MR workload and being aware of the requirements for equipment maintenance
  • Show evidence of own Continuous Professional Development and keep up to date with current imaging and technical developments, professional and Trust issues, audit and all statutory training
  • Show a caring and responsible attitude to patients with respect to their dignity, privacy and cultural diversity
  • Conduct that is consistent with the Trust’s policies and procedures and the departmental guides and protocols
  • Responsible for accurate data entry on Radiology Information System as per department protocols.

    Under the leadership of our Chair Jacqui Smith and Matthew Trainer, our Chief Executive, we provide care for the residents of three of the most diverse London boroughs. More than half of our 7,500 strong workforce are from black, Asian and minority ethnic groups and most live in Barking and Dagenham, Havering and Redbridge.     We know we have more work to do to improve waiting times for urgent and emergency care, and our performance against the four-hour emergency access standard remains challenged, in comparison to many other London trusts.

    We are particularly proud of our regional Neurosciences Centre; Radiotherapy Centre; Hyper Acute Stroke Unit; and dedicated breast care service at King George Hospital. We’re also pleased to be part of the NEL Cancer Alliance.

    Detailed job description and main responsibilities

    We are a very large Radiology Department having five CT scanners and large ultrasound department for general and gynae as well as a dedicated Interventional Theatre Suite. We have five MRI scanners across BHRUT and a rental MRI scanner due to increase number of referrals year on year.

    Education/Qualifications

    Essential criteria

  • Hold BSc in Diagnostic Radiographer, College of Radiographers Diploma or equivalent
  • Current HCPC Registration.
  • Desirable criteria

  • Evidence of Continuous Professional Development
  • Experience of working within an NHS organisation
  • Experience/Knowledge

    Essential criteria

  • Proven post qualification experience in Cross-sectional imaging is essential.
  • Skills/Abilities

    You must have appropriate UK professional registration.
