Job Details

We are looking to appoint an experienced and highly motivated mentor who will be responsible for contributing to the wellbeing of pupils at Castleford Academy.

You will:

• Monitor pupil progress, keeping pupil records that include assessment outcomes and targets, to enable all pupils to achieve their full potential.

• Contribute to the safeguarding and promotion of the well-being of children and young people in line with current legal requirements, national policies and local guidance.

• Support individual pupils to overcome barriers to learning, both inside and outside academy, and thereby assist them in achieving their full potential.

• Be responsible for mentoring looked after children and attending any meetings that are associated with their education.

• Establish productive working relationships with pupils, acting as a role model and setting high expectations.

• Monitor and evaluate pupil’s responses to learning activities through pupils’ progress data and liaising with teachers on a regular basis.

• Be responsible for keeping and updating records as agreed with the looked after children team and contributing to reviews of systems/ records as requested.

• Undertake safeguarding training and be a part of the academy safeguarding team.

You will be/ have:

• English and Maths G.C.S.E (or equivalent) at grade C or above.

• Experience of motivating, supporting and guiding young people.

• Full working knowledge of relevant policies/codes of practice and awareness of relevant legislation.

• Excellent Literacy and Numeracy skills.

• Strong organisational and planning skills.
