About the role
We are looking to recruit an experienced Mental Health Coordinator to join our team, who will be responsible for providing information, advice and support to disabled students and prospective students and those who may be affected by wellbeing and/or mental health difficulties. This includes face to face (drop-in sessions and appointments), telephone and email support. The postholder will identify reasonable adjustments for individual students and liaise with academic and other staff to ensure their needs are disseminated in a confidential manner, as well as promoting the service and leading on wellbeing initiatives throughout the UCL community. This role will be maternity cover from 5th August, to 5th August or the return of the substantive postholder, whichever is the earlier. About you
Applicants must be knowledgeable in issues relating to student welfare and community support services and must have an understanding of the UK higher education sector, UK disability legislation, Disabled Students Allowance (DSA) and confidentiality and data protection issues. You will have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, together with excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise with a diverse range of people. You must be effective in prioritising tasks whist managing a demanding workload and be able to remain calm under pressure, for example when dealing with challenging and stressful situations.
