Job overview

The Trust has committed to the development of Advanced Practice roles through its workforce plan, and is now seeking to appoint a Professional Lead for Advanced Clinical Practitioners to provide leadership and development for these roles.

You will be an existing ACP and will undertake the role for a maximum 3 year term of office, working 15 hours as a Lead alongside your existing clinical role. On completion of your 3 year term, you will hand over the Lead duty and return to your substantive employment as an advanced practitioner.

You will need to ensure you have the support of your manager to undertake the Lead role alongside your primary assignment.

Main duties of the job

In the Lead role, you will work alongside senior clinical stakeholders to ensure that appropriate frameworks for practice, clinical governance, competency assessment, continuing education and appraisal are in place for the development of both trainee and qualified ACPs.

You will also play a key lead role in the strategic development and evaluation of advanced practice across the local integrated care system and proactively influence regional and national priorities related to the ACP workforce.

More broadly, you will work alongside Trust senior leadership to guide and support transformation of the workforce, developing the ACP workforce to meet service needs.

Education, Qualifications and Training

Essential criteria

  • Educated to Masters level or above
  • Current professional registration with the relevant professional body
  • Evidence of developing leadership attributes
  • Desirable criteria

  • PGCE or Educational equivalency
  • Experience and knowledge required

    Essential criteria

  • An ACP with at least 3years experience of working in an Acute Trust
  • Experience in a senior leadership role within a healthcare setting
  • Knowledge and experience of leading change to patient services, delivering tangible and sustained improvements
  • Experience of developing and maintaining active partnerships with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience of delivering objectives within a designated budget and the ability to prioritise competing demands
  • Skills and Attributes

    Essential criteria

  • Highly developed leadership and influencing skills and proved ability to enthuse, motivate and include individuals or teams in a shared vision
  • Ability to build a rapport and credibility across different disciplines and managerial teams
  • Ability to think strategically and innovatively and gain a consensus agreement for plans
  • Advanced analytical skills and ability to simplify complex issues and deliver workable solutions to support the deliver of improvements to services
  • Exhibits an extensive knowledge of practice, changing NHS environments and its impact to services
  • Aptitude and personal qualities
