Our Facilities team are responsible for the installation, commissioning, maintenance and servicing of site facilities, systems and equipment to ensure that they meet the needs of the organisation and its employees.

Purpose of the role

We are currently recruiting for a Facilities Engineer to join our team here in Newport! Reporting to our Facilities Team Leader the Engineer will be part of a team who are responsible for the installation of SPTS systems and associated equipment.

Day-to-day responsibilities include:

  • Assisting in the installation and start-up of new equipment and systems
  • Testing equipment connections and functionality to ensure proper installation.
  • Fault finding and equipment failure repairs
  • Performing ongoing preventive maintenance and repair work on facility mechanical, electrical, and other installed systems and equipment
  • Planning work and executing plans in a safe, and timely manner.
  • Communicating results and ideas to other Technicians and Managers
  • Documenting maintenance records
  • Completing projects from start to handover
  • Assisting in the general maintenance and upkeep of the site and infrastructure.
  • Complying with all safety procedures and requirements, contributing to the continual improvement of our already excellent safety record!

  • Is electrical or mechanically trained e.g. electrical installation technician/engineer as onsite training will be provided
  • Is able to work well under pressure and to exhibit good time management skills
  • Demonstrates good problem-solving skills
  • Knowledge of Safety, Health and Environmental Aspects is desirable
  • This role will require continual shift work alternating between Mon-Thurs 6am – 2pm, Fri 6am – 1pm / Mon-Thurs 2pm-10pm, Fri 1pm-8pm.

    Minimum Qualifications

  • Served an electrical or mechanical apprenticeship.
  • Ideally holds HNC level qualification or has equivalent level of experience.
