PURPOSE OF THE ROLE?

We are looking to recruit an experienced environmental lawyer with the core skills, quality and versatility to work on a variety of advisory, contentious and transactional work across the full spectrum of environmental and sustainability issues.

THE ENVIRONEMENT AND SUSTAINABILITY TEAM

Our Tier 1-ranked Environment & Sustainability team, recognized by both Legal 500 and Chambers, serves a diverse client base. We work with blue chip companies, family-built enterprises, and public sector authorities across multiple sectors, including retail and consumer, transport, digital, health, industrial, manufacturing, automotive, energy, and utilities.

Comprised of five dedicated lawyers operating at both the UK and global level, our team provides a comprehensive and holistic service for all environmental legal matters. Our expertise spans strategic and operational compliance advice, responsible investment and environmental governance, climate change planning and adaptation, incident response and regulatory investigations, enforcement and prosecution support, transactional support including deal structure and due diligence, major infrastructure projects, green claims and sustainable product development, carbon reporting and net-zero business strategies, and addressing various environmental challenges.

What sets us apart is our in-depth knowledge of law and policy, coupled with a deep understanding of our clients' operations. This gives us a significant advantage over our competitors, typically magic circle and major city firms. We have a genuine expertise in addressing crucial issues and delivering fast, commercial solutions to complex challenges.

WHAT TO EXPECT IN THIS ROLE?

  • You will advise on the full range of environmental legal issues including advisory, contentious and transactional projects;
  • You will manage complex cases and work with clients across a broad range of sectors;
  • You will provide clear, precise, practical advice, often to tight deadlines;
  • You will demonstrate your knowledge of key areas of the law and an aptitude to observe developments in law and policy and evaluate how these would impact our clients' businesses;
  • Liaise effectively with other fee earners across the firm globally; and
  • Be involved in a variety of business development activities.
  • As a Senior Lawyer, you will play a crucial role in guiding and developing junior team members, providing ample opportunities for you to assume additional responsibilities and advance your career.

    YOUR AREAS OF KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERTISE

    The successful candidate will have:

  • At least 7 years environmental PQE gained at an appropriate level
  • Proven experience of building and maintaining client relationships;
  • Experience in supporting and developing junior team members;
  • An understanding of the broad commercial interests of our client base; and
