Protocol Education is working with a local Bristol school in the search for a Lead Emergency First Aider. The successful candidate will provide immediate, lifesaving, medical care and assess if and when necessary to call for further medical help. The Lead Emergency First Aider will oversee the medical provision within the school and ensure the appropriate level of supervision.

This post is for five days per week, 9.15am – 4.15pm Monday to Friday, 32.5 hours per week (inclusive of 30 minute unpaid lunch break) term time only plus 5 Inset days (plus 5 additional days to work at their Summer School – the dates vary slightly each year but usually the first week of the summer holidays).

 

The successful candidate will:

• Fulfil the role as nominated first aid lead.

• Be responsible for the delivery of assessment and treatment of minor illness and injuries.

• Deliver care within the boundaries of the role, focusing on student well-being and health education.

• Refer to individual health care plans for students with medical conditions and treat accordingly.

• Notify parents of any illness or accidents and treatments provided.

• Input and update student medical information onto database e.g., SIMS.

• Administer Rescue Medication when appropriate. This is to be in accordance with Student Individual Health Care Plan/medical procedures and up to the level of the training received.

• Replenish and maintenance of first aid equipment/stock, including first aid boxes for school events (sports day) or trips.

• Provide accurate, contemporaneous, and complete records of student consultation consistent with legislation, policies, and procedures.

• Update and share appropriate student medical conditions information at start of each year.

• Create or update and evaluate all medical policies and procedures (medical conditions, drug use etc), communicating with staff and parents.

• Administer an EpiPen injection when appropriate and in accordance with medical procedures and training qualifications.

 

The successful candidate should:

• Have excellent communication skills

• Have excellent IT skills, especially Word, Excel and Outlook

• Be able to prioritise

• Be proactive

• Be able to work independently

• Be reliable and flexible

• Be able to work in a calm and professional manner

• Be responsible for promoting and safeguarding the welfare of children within the school.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
