Amazon is seeking a Manager to join our Indirect Tax Compliance Automation team. This team sits within Amazon’s Indirect Tax Compliance organization. We are looking for someone to help transform the way we do compliance at Amazon by deconstructing existing processes, analyzing them, optimizing, automating and rebuilding them, maximizing the use of technology.
Maximizing the use of technology solutions is essential to meet the challenge of indirect tax compliance and that is where the Indirect Tax Compliance Automation Team comes into play. We are a team within the compliance organization responsible for operationalizing the use of technology to the max. Rolling this out and enabling our compliance colleagues to successfully use them. This might involve constructing new compliance automation or enabling our colleagues to use technology that already exists to its maximum advantage.
An experienced indirect tax technology professional is sought to help us address this field of work globally.
Key job responsibilities
The role will be responsible for :
- Driving the analyzing of compliance teams needs and designing of new compliance tools and processes.
- Identifying and articulating the technology needs, and constructing the tax technology solutions.
Whilst you do not need to be able to “build” using the technology, an understanding of indirect tax compliance is required and an appreciation of how automated solutions are built is needed. You need to understand how technology can be used to improve compliance processes and eliminate inefficiency.
Ideally your experience will mean you will have:
- One foot firmly planted in indirect tax compliance and the other in the tax technology solutions space. - You will need the ability to think-big and and have chance to input into the long term global strategy. - Have a strong bias for action and the ability to deliver results driving solutions over the line.
- You will need to thrive in highly complex distributed system environments and strong communication skills in order to convey your vision of solutions.
The role requires exceptional people skills to work alongside members of the compliance teams and partner with other technology teams.

•6 years of experience with indirect tax software to automate compliance processes.
•User experience of desktop data analytics and technology tools including Alteryx and Excel VBA
• Significant experience of international VAT in either an advisory capacity and/or a compliance environment.
•Strong organizational and project management skills.
•Experience working successfully with globally diverse teams.
•Able to work in a fast paced, informal, and often ambiguous environment.
•Able to successfully work on multiple complex projects at the same time.
•Takes ownership and responsibility for their work under minimal supervision.
•Organized, analytical and methodical with strong attention to detail.
•Excellent interpersonal, written and oral communication skills.
•Demonstrated ability to work effectively on milestone driven projects.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS
•10 years of years of experience in indirect tax (VAT/GST), with a public accounting firm, major law firm, or in industry.•6 years of experience with indirect tax software to automate compliance processes.
•User experience of desktop data analytics and technology tools including Alteryx and Excel VBA
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
• A bachelor’s degree or similar qualification or experience in Accounting, Tax, Business or Finance degree or related field.• Significant experience of international VAT in either an advisory capacity and/or a compliance environment.
•Strong organizational and project management skills.
•Experience working successfully with globally diverse teams.
•Able to work in a fast paced, informal, and often ambiguous environment.
•Able to successfully work on multiple complex projects at the same time.
