We exist to serve pupils frombackgrounds that are underrepresented in university mathematics andbelieve that we do this better when our team includes people whoare from these backgrounds themselves. About AxiomMaths
Axiom Maths is a charityfocusing on helping every child with the heart and head for mathsrealise the potential of their power. Half of the disadvantagedchildren who are high attainers in maths at eleven are no longerhigh attainers by age sixteen. That is a huge loss of humanpotential that affects both those children as individuals and us asa wider society. We are focused on stopping thatloss.
We do this by identifying children withmathematical potential especially those from disadvantagedbackgrounds and guiding them along a path to mathematicalexcellence. We take a dualpronged approach: Providing a programmeto improve their experience of maths and tackling harmful societalviews that stop children from feeling like maths is forthem.

About theRole
Were looking for a MathsMentor to deliver our programme at Cannock Chase High School. As anAxiom Maths Mentor you will deliver weekly hourlong maths circlessessions to small groups of pupils at the school. Sessions canhappen Monday to Friday 3:304:30 pm you will be given sessionsaround your availability. You will be provided with trainingcurriculum and circle material so you can deliver impactfulsessions. The key responsibilities of this roleinclude:
Maths Circlesdelivery
- Deliver theAxiom Maths curriculum including preparing in advance of thesessions using Axiom Maths training videos and mentorguidance
- Deliver highquality and engagingsessions in line with Axiom Maths mission andaims
- Support pupils to identify asmathematicians and feel part of a wider community ofmathematicians
Reportingand Feedback
- Reportweekly on pupils attendance and provide feedback on curriculumresources
- Feedback termly on pupils learning inthe form of progress reports
- Complete a termlymentorsurvey
General
- Safeguardand promote the welfare of the pupils
- Adhere todata protection confidentiality and ITpolicies
- Attend initial and ongoing trainingand engage in our quality assuranceprocess

Aboutyou
- You are passionateand have a strong conceptual understanding ofmaths.
- You are pursuing or have completed aSTEM degree or you have equivalent experience for example throughwork.
- You have experience working with youngpeople.
- You align with the Axiom Mathsethos.
- You can travel to theschool.
Roledetails
Hours We gather mentors availability and preferencesprior to each term starting. We work the school to allocate aminimum of one hour and maximum of three hours of maths circles perweek
Sessions run during school term timeonly.
Fee: This is aself employed role. We pay 45 per session (inclusive of preparationdelivery and reporting and feedback) with additional paidtraining.
