Position Summary:
We are currently seeking a seasoned HVAC Supervisor to join a growing team in the New York, NY area. The ideal candidate will showcase advanced technical proficiency in HVAC maintenance, possess the ability to diagnose issues, and provide recommendations for repairs or replacements. A crucial component of this role involves mentoring fellow technicians in best practices for HVAC equipment and system maintenance. Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, along with strong interpersonal abilities are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive inventory checks and condition assessments of all HVAC equipment and control systems, promptly identifying any immediate preventive or corrective maintenance needs and offering recommendations for repairs or replacements.
  • Deliver technical expertise and hands-on training to fellow technicians, guiding them to work efficiently and independently in maintaining HVAC equipment and systems.
  • Supervise Quality Control initiatives for technicians, including interpreting and reporting on safety and training compliance, field production, and enforcing safety regulations, codes, and standards. Introduce measures to enhance methods, equipment performance, and work quality.
  • Collaborate in fine-tuning HVAC controls for optimized efficiency and performance.
  • Assist in resolving any unresolved HVAC maintenance issues.
  • Take immediate action on all alarms within regular working hours. Address alarm conditions through repair or correction if feasible; otherwise, initiate a follow-up protocol for each alarm.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in utilizing Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) to accept and log all complaints, status updates, and follow-up calls.
  • Review CMMS system and update Preventive Maintenance (PM) schedules and all work orders.
  • Maintain comprehensive system documentation in a CMMS system for all repairs or alterations to the system.
  • Adhere to departmental policy for the safe storage, handling, and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Keep the workspace clean and safe.
  • Collaborate with other trades on-site.
  • Manage refrigerants in compliance with State and EPA requirements, including maintaining accurate records of refrigerant usage and inventory.
  • Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Profound knowledge of the operation, maintenance, and repair of HVAC/refrigeration equipment.
  • Experience in estimating time and materials.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Team player with adept interpersonal skills, capable of providing hands-on training.
  • Familiarity with OSHA standards and local codes.
  • Proficiency in reading electrical, control, and refrigeration schematics.
  • Competency with computer-based systems and programs, including Microsoft Office and Outlook.
  • Proficient in operating Building Management Systems (BMS) and CMMS.
  • Proficiency in utilizing electric hand tools, working on ladders, carrying tools, lifting heavy loads, and operating required equipment.
  • Capable of working in confined spaces such as closets, crawl spaces, attics, vaults, etc.
  • Willingness to work in all weather conditions.
  • Working Environment:

  • Collaborate with a team of skilled technical professionals.
  • Interact with building occupants and third-party contractors.
  • Minimum Required Education and Experience:

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of five years’ experience working with HVAC systems.
  • EPA CFC Certificate (preferred).
