Thepostholder is accountable to the HR Manager (Schools) in thedelivery of allocated tasks to time quality and cost. The postholder works largely autonomously under the general guidance of theHR Services Manager and HR Manager (Schools) using professionaljudgement to ensure the principles of good employment practice areadhered to at alltimes.

JobActivities:
  • Toprovide a highly credible and professional advisory service to headteachers governors new clients and others across the range of HRservices.
  • Tocreate and maintain effective working relationships with customersthat is based on excellent customer care professional expertise anda thorough understanding of theirorganisation.
  • Toadvise and support line managers in dealing with staffing issues.Also complex casework including discipline performance redundancyabsence and grievance investigations; from the provision ofwritten/telephone advice to acting as advisor to customers informal and preparatory meetings andhearings.
  • Toadvise schools and other clients in relation to change management.Programmes including consultation meetings with staff and tradeunion consultations ensuring compliance with relevant policieslegislation and School StaffingRegulations.
  • Toprovide advice and support on the TUPE process during schoolsconversion to Academy status or other TUPEtransfers.
  • Toprovide specialist knowledge on the varying categories of schoolsin relation to specific statutory obligations and legal standingfor both Governing Bodies and the LocalAuthority.
  • Toassist in the design and delivery of HR training programmes forschools and other clients where there is a requirement for specifictraining on HR issues for example employment law managingattendance introduction of policies or proceduralissues.
  • Tobe responsible for managing and delivering specific allocatedprojects to time quality and cost. Working with customers HRManagers and others in the HR function asappropriate.
  • Workwith customers on recruitment and selection exercises providingadvice on the development of job descriptions job evaluation andperson specifications job advertisements selection tests /exercises and assessmentcentres.
  • Toadvise customers on terms and conditions of employment includingequal pay matters and support and participate in customers jobevaluationschemes.
  • Tofacilitate formal communication and consultation with employees andtheir representatives in order to facilitate change resolveconflict and promote a positive working environment that involvesstaff.
  • Toattend LADO meetings (multiagency safeguarding meetings) inrelation to allegations made against directorate or school basedemployees to ensure the safeguarding and welfare of children andyoung people providing advice on the HR implications of anyallegations.


Requirements

Youwill have a proven track record of managing and solving a range ofHR casework including disciplinary grievance sickness absencemanagement TUPE redundancy appraisal and capability.Experience of working withinthe schools sector and providing advice in line with schoolspecific legislation such as the Burgundy Book School Teachers Pay& Conditions Document and School Staffing Regulations isnot essential.

Weare looking for an experienced HR professional who is preferablyfully CIPD qualified or able to demonstrate equivalent experience.You should have a strongknowledge of employment law excellent time management andinterpersonal skills be able to work mainly autonomously under theguidance of your line manager and can make on the spot professionaldecisions in challengingenvironments.

Experienceof working within the schools sector and providing advice in linewith school specific legislation such as the Burgundy Book, SchoolTeachers Pay & Conditions Document and School StaffingRegulations is not essential. We are looking for an experienced HRprofessional who is preferably fully CIPD qualified, or able todemonstrate equivalent experience.
