The Museum Curator will be responsible for managing the object collections and developing a coherent and ambitious way of presenting Newham’s existing and new object collections to the public in the Heritage Centre. The role will work closely with the Project Manager and Archivist as well as an interpretation consultant. The role will also work closely with the Learning and Engagement Officer to devise and run collecting and volunteer activities aimed to improve engagement with the collections. 

The post holder will be line managed by the Heritage Centre Project Manager and will be part of a newly created project team.

The post holder will be creative, innovative and enthusiastic with excellent people skills and experience from local or national museum sectors. They will bring with them the ability to work comfortably with a variety of people, including residents, Councillors, community groups, cultural stakeholders and consultants.

This role is fixed term initially until December 2025, with the aim to extend until September 2026 (dependent on NLHF Delivery Phase grant funding being successful – the decision of which will be received in December 2025).
