Ourclient is a leading and well-respected manufacturing company who specialisewithin the Oil & Gas and MoD industry. Due to increased demand, theyare now looking for an experienced candidate to join their team as the Head ofTendering.
Main Tasks/dutiesand responsibilities:
This role will require the candidateto develop, establish and promote CSOA department methods of working, policiesand management procedures, and ensure these are adhered to moving forward. Thejob will be a mixture of travel and office based.
You will be required to lead,motivate, develop, appraise and performance manage staff to ensure they achievebest performance in line with pre-determined KPI’s, company objectives,legal/statutory requirements, and customer expectations. This will includemanagement of performance via support, training or further action asappropriate.
Day to dayresponsibilities:
•Manage, directand monitor the overall performance of the tender process team to obtain maximumefficiency, quality, service and profitability for the organisation. Developingplans for team activities to improve strategy.
•Effectiveliaison, support and assistance with all relevant stakeholders including sales,applications, engineering, projects, quality and suppliers.
•The successfulcandidate must be able to prioritise workloads and ensure the needs of both thebusiness and our clients are met, in a dynamic, fast moving and high-pressureenvironment.
•Maintain andimprove mechanisms for obtaining opportunities, surveying and measuring tenderprocess and disseminate feedback to the appropriate internal entities.
•Manage thedevelopment of plans for tender process activities to achieve targets,including streamlining of process, analysis and documentation.
•Reporting(content and format as agreed) on a monthly basis or as otherwise agreed.
•Assist in thedevelopment and preparation of the organisation’s tender process strategy andgeneral business planning.
•Delegateauthority and responsibility to team with supervision, accountability andreview.
•Maintain accuraterecords using Salesforce where applicable.
•Responsibly useresources and control expenses to meet agreed budgetary controls.
•Adhere to allorganisation policies and procedures.
•Provide customerand competitor marketing feedback to surveys and programs.
•SupportContinuous improvement efforts through involvement in structured problemsolving and other activities using LEAN concepts.
EssentialExperience:
•Engineeringdegree or commercial equivalent, including 5 years technical and commercialtendering experience.
•Goodtechnical knowledge of both non-API and API category pumps (BB, OH, VS),electro-submersible pump sets.
•Experiencedealing with the associated ancillary equipment that forms part of packagedpump sets.
•Capableof reading and interpreting various component drawings, assembly drawings,exploded view/cross sectional and general arrangement drawings as well aspiping & instrumentation drawings.
•Goodknowledge of basic metallurgies from cast iron to super duplex, and preferablymore exotic materials such as Graphalloy, Hastelloy, PEEK, Tungsten Carbide,and coating knowledge such as HVOF coatings, welded overlays, cladding, andhand applied coatings (i.e. Belzona).
•Knowledgeof general industry manufacturing methods including pattern manufacturing,castings (sand, investment, patternless etc.), forgings and fabrications.
•Basicknowledge of relevant industry standards including API, ANSI, ASME, ATEX, BSEN, COSHH, DNV, GOST, ISO, LOLER, NACE and NORSOK.
•Goodunderstanding of service & repair work and methodologies, including beingable to interpret SIR, and generate quotations based on the findings of thesereports.
•Excellentestimating skills.
•Aptitudefor tender process management and customer/supplier relationship management
•Excellentanalytical, interpersonal, organisational, communication and negotiationskills.
•Abilityto coordinate multiple inputs and outputs from internal and external sourcesunder time focused constraints.
•Commercialawareness and to budget focus.
•Fulldriving licence.
•Mustbe a proficient user of MS Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, Project), Visio andSalesforce are a plus, and have experience of Epicor, Oracle or SAP based ERPsystems.
Must be of British Nationality.
