Role Overview
The Head of MFL will lead the department, inspiring both students and staff to achieve excellence in language learning. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record of outstanding teaching and leadership, with the ability to drive forward the school's ambitious vision for language education. They will be responsible for curriculum development, staff management, and fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage the MFL department, including oversight of curriculum planning, assessment, and resource allocation.
  • Inspire and mentor a team of MFL teachers, promoting high standards of teaching and learning.
  • Develop and implement strategies to enhance student engagement and achievement in languages.
  • Foster a positive and inclusive environment that celebrates linguistic and cultural diversity.
  • Collaborate with other departments and senior leadership to support the school's overall educational goals.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the department's practices, continuously seeking improvements.

Requirements

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) and a degree in a relevant language discipline.
  • Substantial experience in teaching Modern Foreign Languages at secondary level, with a strong track record of student success.
  • Previous leadership experience, ideally within a school setting, demonstrating the ability to manage and inspire a team.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
  • A passion for languages and a commitment to promoting multilingualism and cultural awareness.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

All pay rates quoted will be inclusive of 12.07% statutory holiday pay. This advert is for a temporary position. In some cases, the option to make this role permanent may become available at a later date.
