About the role
The Head of Finance and Business Operations is one of 10 executive leads across the organisation, and works with other senior leaders to ensure the effective delivery of UK Sport’s operations on a day-to-day basis.
The postholder will act as a visible and respected strategic leader in all Finance and Business Operations matters. The role will be responsible for the overarching use of financial resources across the business, holding the organisation to account for delivery, optimising value for money and ensuring a strong system of internal control mechanisms. The postholder will also take the overarching strategic lead for the environmental sustainability strategy, including direct responsibility for the implementation of plans for UK Sport to achieve net zero in its own operations by 2030. The role leads an immediate team of 10, including 3 direct reports.
The role works closely with the Director and provides leadership to colleagues in the Strategy and Business Enabling team.

The successful candidate will be a proven leader and someone who thrives on providing strategic leadership in line with organisational priorities. You will be have experience of leading finance teams to best enable a business, ensuring that all statutory and compliance requirements are achieved and that as an organisation we are achieving the best value for money. .
You will be an excellent and reliable team player, forward thinking, have technical and applied expertise across audit, external reporting and tax and be a great communicator.
Excellent organisation and time management will be essential for this role.
