Head of Art – Highly Regarded Croydon Secondary School (Start Date: September 2024)

On Behalf of Our Client:

We are delighted to partner with a prestigious Croydon secondary school, renowned for its academic excellence and commitment to a well-rounded education, in their search for a dynamic and inspiring Head of Art. This is a full-time, permanent position offering the opportunity to lead a dedicated team and shape the artistic development of students from KS3 through to KS5.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide strong leadership and strategic direction for the Art Department, ensuring a curriculum that is both challenging and engaging for all students.
  • Develop and implement innovative teaching methods that nurture creativity, critical thinking, and artistic expression.
  • Oversee the delivery of the Art curriculum across KS3, GCSE, and A-Level, ensuring alignment with national standards.
  • Lead a team of Art educators, providing support, guidance, and fostering professional development opportunities.
  • Monitor student progress, analyze data, and implement strategies to continuously improve departmental performance.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with parents, the wider school community, and external stakeholders.

Essential Skills and Experience:

  • A demonstrably successful record as a Head of Art or a Senior Art Teacher in a secondary school setting.
  • A strong qualification in Art and a Qualified Teacher Status (QTS).
  • Extensive experience in teaching Art at KS3, GCSE, and ideally A-Level.
  • A deep understanding of the National Curriculum for Art and current educational trends.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire colleagues and students alike.
  • A passion for the Arts, coupled with the ability to create a stimulating and inclusive learning environment.
