We are currently seeking a Global COO, Markets Treasury to join the team in London.

Responsibilities and Accountabilities across Business, Customers and Stakeholders

Strategy Definition & Execution:
- Accountable for defining and leading operational strategy and translate into effective global execution and implementation plans.
- Accountable for overseeing day-to-day operations and regularly reviewing the operational efficiency and effectiveness, establishing structures, policies, processes, ways of working and delivery platforms that enable high quality delivery of services to internal and external customers.
- Manage services received from Global Functions in an efficient, cost-effective and transparent manner.
- Manage oversight of all indirect functional and Global Function charges to the business; act as the most senior interface and stakeholder for LoB for all Group areas providing services.
- Manage P/L accountabilities for business owned functional activities.
- Support the MKTY ExCo for the delivery of overall business objectives as set out in the annual global performance scorecard. 
- Help drive the business forward by championing transformation and change related initiatives.
- Ensuring MKTY senior management are kept informed of all key financial / non-financial issues / developments impacting the business by way of acting as a key point of escalation and if required, play a critical part in any subsequent remediation efforts.
- Recommend investment needs to achieve operational efficiencies.

Risk Management and Controls:
- Define global risk and control standards and drive implementation of these through the Control Office; cascade standards by recommending key frameworks and measures of operational control to guide entities. 
- Identify, assess and manage any existing and emerging risks for operations and technology in line with risk appetite.
- Ensure robust processes in place to deliver on regulatory and management reporting requirements and ensure sound management of all risk types with best in class adherence to policies, best practices, regulations and operating standards.

Customers and Stakeholders:
- Regulator/external and Internal stakeholders: Building and maintaining relationships with external and internal partners, regulators, industry bodies and others to keep up to date with developments. 
- Ensure MKTY deliver fair outcomes for our customers and ensure own conduct maintains the orderly and transparent operation of financial markets.
- Represent MKTY at governance committees and forums to ensure that key objectives are prioritised appropriately.
- Critical in ensuring that MKTY business operates efficiently, does so within the agreed risk appetite and in full compliance with all Regulations and Group requirements. 


Leadership & Teamwork: 
- Coach COO teams to be high performers with robust succession planning for senior positions and development of leadership capabilities.
- Create an environment in which individuals and teams operate in line with HSBC values and operating standards.
- Manage COO and/or Tech headcount in MKTY and lead people agenda, including talent management, establishing organisational structure to support performance delivery. 
- Implement Group performance management & reward strategies to balance growth of a sustainable business with allocation of reward aligned to responsible risk management. 

Requirements

- Leadership under stressed conditions.
- Familiarity with financial instruments.
- Familiarity with working in a dynamic markets / trading floor environment.
- Proven ability to organise & prioritise
- Preferable experience in working with / leading teams based in multiple geographies. 
- Preferable experience in dealing with senior internal and external stakeholders. 

The location for this role is London.
