About the Role:
- Provide strong and strategic leadership for the Geography department across Key Stage 3 (Years 7-8) and potentially Key Stage 4 (Years 9-11).
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of a stimulating and challenging Geography curriculum, ensuring alignment with the National Curriculum.
- Motivate, mentor, and support a team of Geography teachers, fostering a culture of collaboration and professional development.
- Play a key role in the recruitment, development, and performance management of Geography department staff.
- Oversee the effective use of resources and facilities to enhance the Geography learning experience.
- Develop and deliver high-quality Geography lessons that spark curiosity and ignite a passion for the subject.
- Track and monitor student progress, analyzing data to inform teaching and learning strategies.
- Foster a love of Geography and encourage students to develop critical thinking, research, and problem-solving skills.
- Build strong relationships with parents, colleagues, and the wider school community.
The Ideal Candidate:
- A qualified Geography Teacher with a minimum of 5 years' successful teaching experience, including experience in a Key Stage leadership role.
- A proven track record of raising standards and improving student outcomes in Geography.
- Excellent subject knowledge and a passion for innovative teaching methods that bring Geography to life.
- Strong leadership and management skills with the ability to motivate, inspire, and collaborate with colleagues.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills.
- A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of students.
