JobSummary:
To provide highquality teaching and learning experiences forlearners.
To manageteaching and learning in line with SALS policies andpractices.
To contributeto the continuous development of thecurriculum.
To provideadvice guidance and support tolearners.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities:
To undertaketeaching duties including initial assessments of learnersidentifying individual learning needs and referring to learningsupport as appropriate and to give learner induction andtutorials.
Toappropriately plan for teaching and learning which includespreparing course outlines and producing schemes of work and lessonplans; ensuring there are appropriate and uptodate courses files;identifying materials and equipment resources needed to assist theprovision of teaching and learning; production of appropriateflexible learning materials; undertaking coursereviews.
To ensure thereis a complete accurate and uptodate classregister(s).
To beresponsible for withdrawing and transferring learners in liaisonwith the curriculum team leader /manager.
To maintainhigh levels of retention achievement and to support learnerprogression.
To monitorlearner attendance and punctuality and take appropriate action asrequired.
To ensure thatthe progress and achievement of learners is recognised and recordedincluding marking of learners work and making sure that alllearners have appropriate individual learning plans; to provideretention and achievement information to the curriculum team leader/ manager.
To undertake inconsultation with the curriculum team leader / manager and anyother appropriate service staff any work required for theaccreditation of courses and for the effective organisation ofexaminations andassessments.
To undertakethe assessment and recording of learner outcomes including thecompletion of exam entryforms.
To comply withsafeguarding requirements including all Health and Safety and GDPRregulations and in particular be familiar with the procedure to beadopted in case of fire and risk assessment of learning activity inthe learningenvironment.
To observe andactively promote equal opportunities policies in the classroom inthe syllabus and learning materials and in all relationships withthe Service.
To ensure thesecurity of both the classroom and any equipment borrowed or usedwithin theclassroom.
To attend andcontribute to course teammeetings.
To undertakeappropriate training identified through the managementprocess.
To participatein the Service s selfassessment and development planningprocess.
To comply withany reasonable request in relation to the teaching programme madeby theService.
EssentialExperienceRequired:
Must haveexperience of delivering accredited FS mathscourses.
Minimum of oneyear of experience in teaching preferably in a related industry orsector.
EssentialQualificationsRequired:
Bachelorsdegree (or equivalentqualification).
Knowledge andtraining in subject specialism e.g. PGCE DET or equivalent teachingqualification.
Minimum L2English and mathsqualifications.
Additionalinformation tonote:
FunctionalSkills maths tutor required 1220 hours perweek.
Must beavailable for daytime and up to two evenings aweek.
This role willbe based at the Thomas Calton Centre but there will occasionally bea need to travel to offsite venues for outreach delivery and to theLBS offices at Tooley St for training andmeetings.
This role issubject to a satisfactory Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS)check.
