JobSummary:
To carry outplanned maintenance and responsive repairs to all vehicles andplant in use by the London Borough of Lewisham and thirdpartycontractors.
To ensure thatall planned maintenance and responsive repairs are carried out tothe necessary standard as laid down by the Vehicle OperatorsStandards Agency (VOSA) and manufacturers procedures to maximizevehicle/plant efficiency and availability to end userdepartments.
KeyDuties/Accountabilities:
To undertakethe planned maintenance and responsive repairs to all vehicles andplant supplied to end user department by FleetServices.
To ensure thatthe planned maintenance and responsive repairs to vehicles andplant are carried out to VOSA Construction and Use Manufacturersand HSEstandards.
To prepare HGVand PSV vehicles for annual test to all latest construction and useregulations and MOT testers manualstandards.
To ensure thatall planned maintenance and responsive repairs are progressedthrough the Fleet Vehicle Workshops in a efficient and effectivemanner.
To ensure allplanned maintenance and responsive repairs are accurately recordedon job cards and legal VOSA safety check sheets to include workcompleted parts dates and personalsignatures.
Liaise with theFleet Vehicle Workshop Stores to ensure adequate vehicle spares areavailable requisition nonstock items asrequired.
Liaise withuser dept drivers and supervisor on vehicle fault finding andvehicle availability and legalcompliance.
Liaise withspecialist vehicle repair contractors to aid accurate and expeditediagnosis of vehiclefaults.
To be part of a24 hrs 365day standby rota to include bankholidays.
Emergencystandby will include responding to major incidents when declared bythe Councils Emergency Planning Officer this will include liaisingwith the Police Fire Brigade and the Councils Local AuthorityLiaison Officer(LALO).
To attendroadside breakdowns as required undertaking detailed situationassessment and fault diagnosis and repair with due regard topersonalsafety.
Liaise withrecovery contractors to arrange safe removal ofvehicles.
To ensure allspecialist tools and equipment are used in the correct manner andare in a fit and serviceable condition reporting faults to theWorkshopSupervisor.
In conjunctionwith the Workshop Supervisor assist in undertaking H&S riskassessments and reviews within the Fleet ServicesWorkshops.
To keep up todate with all devolvement s in vehicle and plant engineeringattending specialist manufacturers training courses maintainingappropriate accreditation in line with legalrequirements.
Maintain theISO9000/2000 quality system ensuring all procedures are adheredto.
EssentialExperience/KnowledgeRequired:
Experience inthe repair and maintenance of HGV and PSVvehicles.
Detailedknowledge of vehicle workshop practices and commercial vehiclerepair and maintenance.
Detailedknowledge of ISO 9000/2000 qualitystandards.
Detailedknowledge of VOSA HGV and PSV Operator LicensingRegulations.
Detailedknowledge of VOSA HGV and PSV Mot testingregulations.
Detailedknowledge of Health and Safety at work managementRegulations
EssentialQualificationsRequired:
HGV licenceCE.
DrivingLicence.
Good standardof general education.
Recognisedapprenticeship in motor vehicle/mechanicalengineering.
ONC orequivalent in motor vehicle/mechanical engineering.

Role is basedat Lewisham Council Wearside Depot which is in Ladywell on WearsideRoad.
The overridingneed is to provide an economical and commercially viableorganization which is responsive to the Councils always needs andthe post holder will be expected to take a flexible approach to hisduties to assist in covering all aspects of work throughout thesection as required to promote the general wellbeing of FleetServices.

Fiveday shiftsover Seven to including Saturday andSunday
Standby rota365 days including bankholidays.
