Office Attendance - Our roles are hybrid; however, you should be able to travel to our Edinburgh office, 1-2 days per week for this position.

We’re looking for a FC Product Accountant to join our Insurance and Money Services team. You will be responsible for ensuring the integrity of product financial information used in reporting for our Money Services business. This is a great opportunity to join our Financial Control team during a period of organisational change enabling the successful applicant to play a role in shaping the future Financial Control function within the organisation.

You will work with a variety of stakeholders from across a range of business disciplines Commercial Finance / Tesco Group) to ensure the preparation of complete and accurate financial reporting which is compliant with relevant accounting standards.

Using your effective communication skills, you’ll ensure your stakeholders are professionally managed, actions and issues are promptly resolved, governance adhered to, and relevant opportunities for enhancement of current processes are being discussed and driven forward.


What you’ll be doing

•Manage month end close and balance sheet substantiation in order to deliver financial reporting that is compliant with International Accounting Standards.

•Develop, and ensuring compliance with, a Financial Control Framework, including ensuring adequate design of controls to mitigate risks in the end to end business process, and reporting on risk and control performance.

•Communication and engagement with third parties to ensure robust financial information is received to substantiate our ledger.

•Gain an understanding of our money services products to support the Commercial teams in making decisions to shape the future direction of the business.

•Resolve queries from internal or external customers or suppliers, including audit queries, by providing accurate and timely responses to solve problems as they arise.


We need you to have

•Qualified Accountant.

•Proven MS Excel skills to create relevant and effective reports using various data sources, analysing data trends to help guide decision making.

•An ability to manage a range of varied tasks within tight month end reporting deadlines, being able to prioritise effectively to ensure everything is completed to a high standard.

•Communicates with other people without requiring supervision and provides technical guidance when required in a clear, concise and compelling manner.

•A proactive and investigative mindset willing to challenge the status quo and established processes to gain a deeper understanding of the end to end business and suggest improvements to working practices.

•Demonstrating Advanced Excel skills.

•An ability to work independently, and to proactively manage upwards to ensure important tasks are completed within mandated deadlines.

Role Alignment

Following the announcement regarding Tesco's strategic partnership with Barclays, this role will support our Insurance and Money Services team and will remain with Tesco.
