Experienced  Learning Support Assistant 


 

An amazing opportunity for an experienced Learning support assistant, in a full time position in a secondary school based in Glastonbury.
 

To be considered for this role you must have excellent experience working with children with special needs; in addition to having relevant qualifications. It is desirable you have knowledge of needs including ASD, ADHD and SEMH (Social, Emotional Mental Health), students will also display challenging behaviour, so it is paramount you are able to manage this confidently.

The amazing teaching staff at this school work as a team in challenging situations, sometimes interventions will occur. You must be able to handle situations calmly, bringing a positive, patient attitude to the environment.


 

Your predominant duties will include offering classroom support on a 1:1 basis. You will be mentoring students from key stage 3 through to key stage 4
 

As previously mentioned the needs are predominantly SEMH, students also haven’t worked well in mainstream so aren’t academically achieving. Your role will involve offering classroom support to both students and teacher/s. You will not be expected to plan or mark, but offering creative enthusiasm to lessons is vital! Morning briefings will take place to plan the day as a team, it is a great opportunity to speak to senior staff members regarding students progress.

 

Hours of work will be 8:30am - 3:30pm, Monday to Friday, this will be an immediate start, however we are open to discuss postponed start.
